Where’s the Vote?

March 7, 2010

On Wednesday March 3rd, 2010, President Obama made his latest of many calls for a final vote on Healthcare Reform.  He concluded his statement  by saying:

“So, no matter which approach you favor, I believe the U.S. Congress owes the American people a final vote on Healthcare reform.”

So where is the vote Mr. President?

Did you mean that the American people  are owed a final vote only after you have had a few weeks to twist Democrat member’s arms, or that the American people deserve an untarnished vote right now?

Did you mean that the American people are owed a final vote only after you have had a few weeks to shower Democrat members with promises, gifts and bribes, or that the American people deserve an untarnished vote right now?

Did you mean that the American people  are owed a final vote only after you have had a few weeks for your state run media to influence Congress and the voters with medical sob stories and the demonization of the health insurers,  or that the American people deserve an untarnished vote right now?

Mr. President, if you are a man of y0ur word, and you are being completely honest when you say;

“Every idea has been put on the table, every argument has been made, everything there is about healthcare has been said, and just about everybody has said it.  So now is the time to make a decision.”

Then where is the vote?  Give us a Healthcare vote now!

President Obama, I propose that you direct the House of Representatives to schedule a vote for Monday, March 8th at 4:00 pm to decide, once and for all, the fate of this Healthcare Reform Bill.

And maybe on Tuesday you can begin to focus on creating jobs.

    I don’t understand this post.
    A few weeks? This has been going on for over a year, the fundamental debate for decades.
    He’s spent more time and money on jobs than anything else, starting with the Recovery Act, a year ago, and most recently, the jobs bill.

      You are right, you do not understand the post. It is time for a vote, not more waiting, not more arm twisting, no more press conferences; vote on the Healthcare Reform bill Monday.

      The recovery act was a pork laden spending bill. The recent Jobs bill has the potential of creating 250,000 jobs which falls woefully short of what is needed. The 8.4 million people who have lost their jobs since this recession started and the 16.8% of the population that is either unemployed (9.7%) or underemployed would like their elected leaders to drop everything else and focus on creating more jobs.
