The Fix’s Santorum Silliness

April 11, 2010

Washington Post writer Chris “The Fix” Cillizza has a sharp and insightful political mind, but sometimes insight takes anticipation and anticipation means taking risks.  Mentioning former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum as a possible replacement for Michael Steele if he were to decide to not run for Chairman of the RNC  in 2011 was a risk; it is silly and it is wrong.

Sure, Santorum’s chances of winning the GOP’s 2012 Presidential nomination are slim, but make no mistake about, Rick Santorum is running.  He is investing his time, he is building the grassroots organization, he is crisscrossing the state of Iowa and he is running for President.  His entire political career consists of  people telling what he cannot do and then doing it; impossibility will not stop him, he is running for President.

And if Santorum does not win the nomination, he is exactly the kind of social conservative, pitbull that makes for a good number two on a Republican Presidential ticket.

Here is his speech from the Southern Republican Leadership Conference.
