The pageant was not without controversy though:
“Some are declaring that Fakih won the contest because of politics, because the judges disliked another contestant’s answer on the recent Arizona immigration statutes.”
The irony lies in the fact that if she was given the crown in part as a politically correct gesture to the Muslim community, might that innocuous gesture one day come back and bite the good people United States right on the rear end?
“I am not sure how a beautiful Muslim woman strutting before millions in a bikini (or tripping in a low-cut evening gown) is going to somehow please those religious fundamentalists devoted to hijab.”
Hopefully the jihadists (sorry Eric Holder, I did use that word) were watching soccer on ESPN 2, or else America might be in line for another wave of terrorist bombings.
Best case scenario; maybe we will just have to suffer through a few earthquakes.
Either way, it would be a beautiful irony.
