It’s Not Just the Politicians: 2 out of 3 Voters Angry at the Media

June 15, 2010

According to Rasmussen Reports, the voters are sick and tired of the news.  Not just the stories, but the News Media as well.

Sixty-six percent (66%) of U.S. voters describe themselves as at least somewhat angry at the media, including 33% who are Very Angry.

The reason for the anger?

Sixty-eight percent (68%) say most reporters when covering a political campaign try to help the candidate they want to win.

Just before Election Day 2008, 51% said most reporters were trying to help Barack Obama win the presidency.

Among Republicans, the numbers get much worse.

Seventy-nine percent (79%) of Republicans are angry at the media.  Seventy-six percent (76%) of GOP voters think most reporters are trying to help Obama pass his agenda.

It is important to remember that the questions did not in any way define media or differentiate between media outlets such as CNN and Fox News.

It seems that the American people want fair reporting so that they can make up their own mind when the elections come around.  Media bias is yesterday’s news.
