Palin Leads in Pennsylvania, but the Big News is…

June 30, 2010

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich

… how Presidential Newt Gingrich is looking.

The latest PPP Poll taken in Pennsylvania rates the potential 2012 Republican challengers as follows;

Palin 23%

Gingrich  22%

Huckabee  20%

Romney  16%

Paul  11%

At the same time, PPP surveyed the state of Texas where;

Newt Gingrich leads the way with 23%,

followed by Mike Huckabee at 18%,

Sarah Palin at 17%, and

Mitt Romney at 14%.

The pollsters made two very significant observations with these results.

Newt Gingrich increasingly looks like a very legitimate candidate should he decide to run for President in 2012. He’s showing strong support across the country- he’s led in California, Louisiana, South Carolina, and Texas and finished just behind in Illinois and Pennsylvania in recent polls.

Mitt Romney is really slipping in these polls. He had the lead in both Pennsylvania and Texas the last time we polled those states but has fallen now to 4th in both.

Too bad for Republicans that Gingrich does not poll very well against President Obama.
